(260414) -- MERU, April 14, 2026 (Xinhua) -- Visitors hike in Mount Kenya National Park, Meru County, central Kenya, April 11, 2026. Located close to the Equator in central Kenya, Mount Kenya is the second-highest mountain in Africa as its highest peak, Batian, reaches 5,199 meters.

Vegetation in Mount Kenya National Park changes with altitude, creating distinct vertical ecological zones. The park plays an important role in maintaining Kenya's ecological security and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997.
