TUNIS, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar expressed on Saturday Tunisia's deep concern over the situation in Sudan and its consequences on the entire region, according to a statement released by the country's foreign ministry.

Ammar made the remarks during a virtual meeting of the African Union's Peace and Security Council held to discuss the developments of the Sudan crisis.

During the meeting, Ammar reiterated Tunisia's commitment to Sudan's unity and sovereignty and expressed Tunisia's solidarity with the Sudanese people in their pursuit of a lasting and comprehensive peace.

The Tunisian minister also called on all Sudanese parties to uphold the interests of Sudan and return to the political settlement process.

The minister also called for international efforts to provide relief to the Sudanese people and alleviate their suffering.
