Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed goalkeeper Denis Onyango remains a doubt for their CAF Champions League quarter-final first leg against Al Ahly at the Cairo Stadium on Saturday.

The Ugandan has been struggling with a hamstring injury recently and was replaced by Kennedy Mweene in Sundowns' win over Chippa United last time out.

Speaking to the media ahead of the much-awaited encounter against the Red Devils, Mosimane remained hopeful his number one will recover in time.

"We rested Denis on our first day of training since we arrived here in Egypt as he has that hamstring which always gives him trouble," said Mosimane.

"But he did a light training session on the second day and our goalkeeper coach Wendell Robinson is working with him to make sure that he is available for the game."

Meanwhile, defenders Ricardo Nascimento and Anele Ngcongca are also nursing injuries but they are expected to recover in time for the continental clash.

"It is good to see Anele making the warm-up because he had some irritations with his groin and Ricardo also has a groin strain," Mosimane continued.

"But the good news is that Anthony Laffor is back, and he had a full training session with us."
